I want to invest in tax liens but I've seen them range from $1000 to $20 000, which ones should I go for? Any ideas or sites where I can read more?

The $$ amount isn't that important, what is much more important is the property backing up the lien. If that property is worthless you won't collect your interest.

Exactly – the amount is irrelevant, all that matters is the interest that you earn (the return on your investment). Higher lien doesn't guarantee higher ROI.
