I am looking for really safe things to invest my money in, are tax liens really safe – like you can not lose money when you buy them? Thank you for your time.

You CAN lose money – although this rarely happens when you do a proper research.

If you are looking for even safer investments you should probably go for: Certificates of Deposit, Treasury Bonds, Treasury inflation-indexed Bonds, Treasury Bills, Treasury Notes, Corporate Bonds, Zero Coupon Bonds, Municipal Bonds, Guaranteed Investment Contracts, Fixed Annuities, Equity Index Annuities.
