Hi, probably not the best place to ask, but nevertheless. I'm applying for a job and if they do a background check will a federal tax lien affect it? Thanks

The tax lien will show up on the credit report in most cases, then again most employers only look if you have criminal offences.

Correct – it will show up on a credit check.

Actually the employers must get your written permission before they run a credit check on you, but in most companies running a credit check is a standard procedure.
