Can someone give me an idea as to how safe is investing in tax liens? Thanks

Where I live 98% of the people pay their taxes, which means that your investment is 98% guaranteed.

It is much safer than many other type of investment, and then again you shouldn't put all your eggs in one basket. The most important thing IMO is to properly research the property – in some (rare) cases you might end up owning property and be liable for previous environmental contamination, etc.
